Isn’t spinal decay just part of the normal aging process?

Because spinal decay is often seen in the elderly, some people are misled into believing that it is merely part of aging. This, however is not the case. Spinal decay is the result of long-standing, uncorrected spinal stress.

I feel like I am getting “Sick”, should I cancel my chiropractic appointment?

No. Subluxations can hamper your ability to ward or fight off illness.

I’ve had back surgery, can I still get adjusted?

Yes. Your doctor will avoid areas surgically modified (including back surgery). Surgery  often causes instability above and below the involved levels. This instability will be the main focus of your chiropractic treatments.

Why should I get my newborn adjusted?

The birth process can negatively affect an infant’s spine. Studies suggest that; colic, unusual crying, poor appetite, ear infections and erratic sleeping habits can be signs of spinal distress. The good news is newborn adjustments are gentle. The pressure used is no more than you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato.

Will I get medication for pain?

No. Chiropractors rely on your bodies’ natural ability to heal its self. As for outside influence, ice is recommended for it analgesic effects without the side effects associated with pain medications.

How long until I feel better?

Some people feel an immediate relief while others can take days, weeks or even years. Everyone is different and recovers at different paces. Healing is effected by many factors like; stress, age, health conditions, muscle tone, diet and attitude.

Can I adjust myself?

No. Some people can make a sound from their joints, but this isn’t an adjustment. Even your chiropractor must consult a colleague to benefit from chiropractic care.

What makes the sound during an adjustment?

There are lubricating fluids that separate the bones of each spinal joint. During an adjustment the fluid and gas can shift causing a sound. The sound however isn’t a guide to the quality or value of the adjustment.

What does an adjustment feel like?

After the brief thrust, many patients report a sense of well-being or a feeling of calmness, while others feel improved mobility. Chiropractors excel at making adjustments comfortable and effective.

When will I get my first adjustment?

It depends on the complaint and how long it may take to study your exam findings. The clinical decision varies from patient to patient.

Will I have to have X-rays?

We will be able to tell if we need them after completing the examination. X-rays or pictures of your spine are very helpful, especially after a trauma. They can help confirm the doctor’s findings and make your care more precise.

What if my insurance doesn’t cover my visits?

Each of us has the freedom to place a different value on our health. Ultimately good health is about personal responsibility. While an insurance company may be helpful, you must be careful. It may be dangerous to allow a profit-motivated company make decisions abut what you do with your health.

What is a subluxation?

A subluxation is the condition of adjacent spinal bones being out of alignment with respect to one another. Nerves exit the spaces created between these two adjacent vertebrae thus a subluxation may cause pain. Many times subluxations can exist with no symptoms, but the resulting nervous system interference can cause many types of health problems.

Who can Chiropractic help?

Improved nerve communication between your brain and body can help everyone. Modified adjusting techniques can help newborns all the way to the elderly and even those with special needs.
