Horner Syndrome and Chiropractic Care

“Horner syndrome is caused by the internal disruption of the sympathetic nerve supply to the eye and causes miosis (constriction of the pupil) and mild ptosis (drooping of the eyelid)” Mosby’s Guide to Physical Examination.  Many may ask what chiropractic care can do for a problem in the eye.  But when we look at the definition above from a chiropractic standpoint, vertebral subluxations could potentially be the “internal disruption of the sympathetic nerve supply”.  These subluxations can cause imbalances in autonomic tone between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and cause the dis-ease/dysfunction that leads to the signs and symptoms of Horner syndrome.  For more information about chiropractic care, please visit our website at www.weldfamilyclinic.com
