Swing into Spring

Most golfers have a love/hate relationship with the game—one swing they love it, the next they hate it. While I cannot guarantee a better score, chiropractic care could help smooth out your swing, add a few yards to that drive and make those 18-inch putts a bit less stressful.

The spine is an integral part of every golfer’s swing. Without spinal flexibility, shoulder rotation for backswing and follow-through, as well as pelvic rotation are more difficult.
When we consider the overall complexity of the spine—24 individual vertebrae articulating at six joints , along with dozens of muscles, ligaments and tendons attaching to each bone—it truly is a mechanical marvel. We do not, however, want to miss the forest for the trees. The spine is one single unit and a subluxation is the “weak link” in the chain. It can reduce mobility and flexibility in the spine, affecting the mechanics of your swing, but it can also have much more subtle and sinister effects. Every aspect of your golf swing, from the mental preparation to the follow-through, is controlled entirely by your nervous system. Subluxations can affect your ability to concentrate fully; affect your voluntary control of individual muscles and groups of muscles; affect your grip strength, your reaction time and even your mood. Nervous system interference from subluxations can affect every aspect of your day on the course. However, when you’re functioning at your optimum with no interference, the sky is the limit. Before your next round, why not schedule an appointment for a tune-up. Again, I cannot promise longer drives, but you may have a better day overall!

Find your sweet spot,
Dr. Erik

Chiropractic and Cancer

Cancer is an ugly, devastating disease and there is no pleasant way to discuss it.  On the surface, chiropractic may seem like an unlikely player in the cancer-care circle.  When we look a bit deeper, however, we find that chiropractic could have applications throughout all levels of care.  I will break our discussion down into three separate categories:  Palliative/Hospice care, Active Treatment and Prevention.

While trying to choose a topic for my article, I realized that I have discussed the importance of chiropractic care for kids, but I have not described the signs and symptoms of subluxations.  These signs vary with age and I will discuss what to look for in each age category.

Heartburn - put down the Tums and step away slowly

Heartburn.  Most of us have had some experience with it.  Whether it was a bit of indiscretion with the jalapeno-covered nachos or a daily battle waged with diet restrictions and medications, the symptoms can range from annoying to concerning.
