Self Awareness: The Purpose of Symptoms

I have been talking with a lot of my patient lately about symptoms and their purpose.  Symptoms are valuable from the standpoint that they can tell us THAT something is not right – but they don’t always tell us WHAT is not right.  Are many headaches caused by cervical subluxations? Yes.  Can they be caused by a myriad of other things? Absolutely.  As a clinician, I have to be careful to not let my educated brain get in the way of my innate communication with each patient.

The bulk of true progress in chiropractic care comes when patients become self-aware and identify patterns of behavior, patterns of movement and patterns of thought that may not be serving them as well as a different pattern may.  This does not mean that one must change their entire world overnight, but small changes lead to immense change!

If you are a patient reading this, ask me more about self awareness.  If you are not under chiropractic care, seek out someone who will work with you to change your life!

We are committed to educating and inspiring individuals and families to cultivate health and healing throughout their lives.
