Priorities and Success

Parkinson’s Law – Demand will always match supply – can be applied to many aspects of life.  One iteration of it could be stated, “If you don’t fill your day with high priority activities, your day, by default, will be filled with low priority activities.”

How true is that?

If you don’t MAKE time for exercise, you’ll never find time for it.

If you don’t MAKE time for preparing healthy meals, you’ll be forced to pick up a quick bite which never turns out to be healthy.

If you don’t MAKE time for prayer or meditation to clear your mind and spirit, you’ll fall into bed, exhausted, and forget all about it.

If you don’t MAKE a daily schedule of activities and goals, you’ll find yourself wandering mindlessly through the day.

Each day when you get to work, or better yet, the night before, set out  a plan for the day.  What you will accomplish, who you will talk to, when you will exercise, what you will eat – placed in priority order.  Do the highest priority jobs FIRST!

“If you fail to plan, you’re planning to fail.” – Benjamin Franklin

The Price of Inaction

“The price of inaction is far greater than the cost of making a mistake” – Meister Eckhart

How many experiences have you missed out on because you were afraid of making a mistake?  How many times have you held yourself back because you were concerned that failure would be too damaging to your reputation?

Challenge yourself this week to do something you’ve been afraid to do.  Try something that, if you fail, you can pick yourself up from and find out that it’s OK to fail.

Don’t let fear, pride, embarrassment or worry get in the way of your life anymore!

Be afraid – and do it anyway!
