Low Level Laser Therapy at Weld Family Clinic

XLR8_Product_Shot_Straight_OnThe therapeutic benefits of light are well documented and light has been used for centuries as a natural treatment for a multitude of health conditions.  People in northern latitudes often suffer from problems such as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) from shortened days during the winter months.  Reduced sun exposure in the winter months also leads to vitamin D deficiency, which can lead to decreased immune function and increase your chances of illness.
Recent research now suggests that utilizing a specific wavelength of light (635nm) in a red laser can speed healing from injuries, reduce the pain of chronic conditions and may even help with reducing the appearance of scars and conditions such as acne!
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is delivered via a handheld device and is completely painless.  It can be used on nearly every part of the body to reduce pain and speed healing.
Regular price for this therapy will be $35-45 per session
Now through 12/31/15, we are offering this exceptional service for $15 per session, or if you prepay for 10 sessions, you’ll get two free.

Wellness Chiropractic – Allergies

We hear about allergies all the time – from friends or family members suffering from them, news reports giving us the pollen count, and commercials for the latest “miracle” drug to relieve all those nasty symptoms like itchy, watery eyes, runny nose and congestion.

Why is it, however, that some people suffer from allergy symptoms while others do not?   Why is one child from a family allergic to peanuts, while their sibling is not?  Why do some suffer so much that they are absent from work for days at a time, while others simply get a drippy nose?  Why do people seem to develop “new” allergies to things that previously did not affect them?

To answer these questions, we must first understand what an “allergy” really is.  Stedman’s Medical Dictionary defines allergy as “Hypersensitivity caused by exposure to a particular antigen/allergen”.  Hypersensitivity – overreaction on the part of the immune system to something that should be considered normal.  Therefore, the difference between someone who suffers from allergies and someone who does not is simply altered immune system function.  Altered immunity can and does cause hypersensitivity reactions in many people.

What causes altered immune function?  In most cases it is a combination of various factors including, but not limited to: poor diet (excess sugar/simple carbohydrates, lack of essential fats as found in fish oil, too many calories overall), inadequate sleep, negative thought patterns and self-talk, and last, but certainly not least, vertebral subluxations.  Subluxations affect nervous system performance and thereby immune function (emerging theories suggest that the immune system is simply an extension of the nervous system – the “sixth sense”, if you will).

Nervous system interference caused by vertebral subluxations interrupts or distorts the communications between your brain and the rest of your body.  This distortion is similar to static on your radio – you can hear some sound, but the message is not clear.  When part of your body, i.e. the lining of your sinuses, receives the wrong/distorted message telling it what to do, it must act upon the information it can understand, often causing overreaction and, voila, allergies!

There aren’t any conditions that are caused by a lack of synthetic chemicals (drugs) in your body, thus allergy symptoms are not caused by a lack of antihistamines in your bloodstream. Symptoms, once again, are simply signs that our nervous system and immune system are not functioning properly.

“Look well to the spine for the cause of disease.”

Chiropractors are interested in causes, not effects.  For over 100 years, Doctors of Chiropractic have been “looking well to the spine” and seeing miraculous things happen in the lives of the people they care for.  If someone you know suffers from allergy symptoms, or any other ailment for that matter, share the message of chiropractic – the choice for health and wellness! Please ask if you have any questions about how chiropractic care might be able to help those you love!

The Myth of the Quick Fix

Quick fixWe’ve created a throw-away, microwave, fix-me-now society that has permeated every aspect of our culture.  This is especially true in what is called “health care”.  Everyone wants a quick fix.  They want to “feel” better NOW! (and sometimes NOW isn’t soon enough).  In order to accommodate this, Western medicine has turned nearly every human physiological process into a “condition” that can be treated with drugs.

  • Don’t like being cut off by that jerk during rush-hour? You probably have 312.34 – Intermittent Explosive Disorder
  • Trouble getting to sleep after drinking a quad espresso or an energy drink at 9pm? It might be 292.85 – Caffeine-induced Sleep Disorder
  • Do you have a strong dislike for solving mathematical equations? There’s a distinct possibility you have 315.1 – Math Disorder

Even PREGNANCY is treated as a disease and more than one-third of all babies are now surgically removed, primarily out of scheduling convenience – quick fix.

What if it’s not really about how we feel?

After all, most cancers are painless until their late stages.  You don’t “feel” heart disease until you have a heart attack.  Symptoms are NOT the problem – DYSFUNCTION is the problem!  There’s not a drug on the market today that improves function – NOT ONE!  The quick fix medications don’t fix anything!

So what improves function?

What does it need to do this?

1. A nervous system free from interference

2. Time

There is no process that does not require TIME.

There are no quick fixes – no shortcuts – no rushing the healing process!  Leave behind the myth of the quick fix. Unleash the healing power inside you with chiropractic care.  The results will be unmistakable.

Don’t Ask What…Ask Why!

When a person enters the American “Health Care System”, it’s usually because they have some symptom apart from which their life would be considerably more enjoyable.  They are looking for an answer to the “What” question: “What’s the matter with me and what do I need to do to make it go away?”  Generally the experience goes something like this:

Patient:  “Doc (or physician’s assistant, or front desk staff), every time I lay down, I get heartburn.  I’ve taken tums, Zantac and everything else I found in the heartburn aisle of the pharmacy and nothing seems to help.”

Doctor: “I’m going to refer you to a gastroenterologist”

Gastroenterologist: “We’ll run an upper GI barium study and an endoscope to look for erosions in the esophagus”

2 weeks later

Gastroenterologist: “Your test results came back and you have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease – I’m prescribing Nexium – come back in 2 months”

Patient: “Thanks Doc, I’m glad I know what’s wrong”

Notice anything missing from this interaction? No one asks the “Why” question!  “Why do I have heartburn?”  Nor is there any discussion about diet, stress, exercise, or anything related to his lifestyle!

This is not just about heartburn either! This same script could be used for headaches, sinus issues, allergies, ear infections, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, anxiety, constipation, erectile dysfunction, FSD (look it up) or ANY OTHER DISEASE, SYMPTOM OR SYNDROME you can name!

Get clear on this – if you gave a healthy person all the medications that a sick person is on, what’s going to happen?  That’s right – they’ll get SICK!  What chances do you think you have if you take them?

Chiropractic asks – and answers – the WHY question!
