How Long Does a Chiropractic Adjustment Take?

How long will I spend at an appointment?

I wanted to touch on a question I get from time to time – “How long does a chiropractic adjustment take?” Or, “how long do regular visits last?”

Everyone’s visits may look a little different because we may use a variety of adjusting techniques, adjunctive therapies or because of the patient’s individual needs. The most important adjustments that I deliver every single week, however, for Dr. Patricia and my kids, take two minutes or less.  Yes…you heard me correctly…less than two minutes.

A little longer in the beginning…

Now when we first start caring for you, visits take a bit longer because we’re just getting to know you and your spine.  We’ll also be giving you stretches and exercises to help mobilize and stabilize specific areas of your spine early on in care.  However, as your spine begins to stabilize and you begin moving better, the chiropractic adjustment becomes more like a tune-up rather than an overhaul.  Some people believe that the chiropractic adjustment is LESS important when they’re feeling great and it’s OK to miss an appointment here and there. Nothing could be farther from the truth.  Even when you’re feeling great, it’s extremely important to follow your plan of care to maximize the benefit you’ll get from chiropractic.

Re-evaluations will take longer too…

Regular re-evaluations throughout your corrective care plan take a bit longer as well.  These serve as routine “pause points” where we assess progress with the computerized scans and get a more detailed progress report from you to see how you feel things are improving.  If you have additional concerns, this is a great time to make us aware so we can address them appropriately. You’re always free to do this at one of your adjustment visits as well – we want you to be completely honest and let us know if you’re not getting what you need or if something new has come up.

No longer than needed…

Ultimately, YOUR time is valuable and we don’t want to waste it.  Our job as chiropractors is to deliver a chiropractic adjustment to correct your vertebral subluxations and remove the interference to your full potential, get out of the way and turn you loose to go live your best life.

We are committed to educating and inspiring individuals and families to cultivate health and healing throughout their lives.
